Over Obama’s racial remarks, Tim Scott fires back

After the Democrat criticized the declared GOP presidential candidate for his remarks about race and racial progress in the country, Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) fired back.

We live in a land of opportunity, not oppression. To protect their power, democracies deny our progress. “The Left wants you to believe faith in America is a fraud and progress in our country is a myth,” he said.

It is MY life that disproves the lies of the radical Left. The United States is a country where little Black and Brown boys and girls can be President. We’ve already had one, and there’s good news – “We’re going to have another,” he concluded.

According to the South Carolina Republican, Obama made the comments during a podcast interview with his former White House senior adviser David Axelrod published Thursday. When asked about Scott’s messaging regarding race, the former president suggested Scott wasn’t offering solutions to deal with systematic racism within the country or acknowledging Black Americans’ difficulties.

Republicans may say, “I want us all to live together,” but they have no plan to address generational poverty, which is a result of centuries of racism in this country. Discrimination is everywhere, from getting a job to buying a house to the criminal justice system, if the candidate refuses to acknowledge it.

There can’t just ignore all that and pretend as if everything is equal and fair if somebody isn’t acknowledging and proposing those elements that say, ‘No‘. People are rightly skeptical if we don’t walk the walk as well as talk the talk,” he concluded.

Black Americans are making rapid progress within the U.S., according to Scott, suggesting Democrats are underestimating their accomplishments. Joy Behar said Scott “doesn’t get it” about systemic racism during an appearance on “The View.” Scott has previously faced pushback over his statements.
