In Southern California, a Marine was released from custody after being questioned about the discovery of a missing 14-year-old girl.
In June, the girl was found in the barracks at the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, approximately 40 miles north of San Diego. She had ran away from her grandparents’ home earlier in the month.
A military law enforcement agency, the Naval Criminal Investigative Services, says no charges have been filed or arrests made. The name of the Marine has not been released.

As a result of the military police operation at Camp Pendleton, the girl was returned to her grandmother June 28. According to the sheriff’s department, detectives interviewed her, and the family was offered services.
